Anatomy and physiology of the skin and the wound healing process

Having a good understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the skin can help support and direct the skills used to assess and manage patients’ skin following injury. This module describes the three main layers of the skin and discusses skin pH and the impact that this has on skin care. It also looks at the functions of the skin and the affects of ageing, as well as explaining the phases of wound healing and why holistic wound assessment is vital.
